First Time Home Buyers
Purchasing a home for the first time, though exciting, can also be a daunting and intimidating undertaking! For that reason, it is important to have a Realtor who has the following qualities:
- Experienced enough and knowledgeable enough to guide you through the various steps of the process.
- Able and willing to communicate to you what the various steps in the purchase process are and how they work.
- Willing to set up a search based upon your needs and preferences, and then show you the properties that appear to match your needs and preferences which appeal to you.
- Someone who listens to you, and is willing to modify the search criteria if your perception of your needs changes.
- Someone who welcomes and respects your questions. Questions are an indication of thought and a means by which to gain understanding. With that in mind, there is no such thing as a “dumb” question.
- Someone with the patience and interest in you and your needs to do all of the above!
I am that person! If you are ready to get started, so am I! The first step is for you to get Pre-Qualified with a reputable and respected lender. I would suggest that you use someone who works for local lending institution who knows the local market, laws governing lending practices in Oklahoma and who has at least a few years of experience. Getting Pre-Qualified is important for the following reasons:
- It will help you realistically know the price range in which you should be shopping. If you unknowingly start with shopping for houses in a price range for which you cannot qualify, it will be a waste of your time, and will also make it more difficult for you to be happy with houses that you see that are within your purchase range.
- Sellers nearly always ask for a pre-qualification letter with any offer that is submitted to them. If you make an offer without a pre-qualification letter and some other buyer makes an offer on the same property with a pre-qualification letter, the seller will nearly always choose to respond to the offer with the pre-qualification letter rather than to the one from the buyer who has not been pre-qualified.
I want to be your guide and resource person. I look forward to working to help you find not just a house, but THE RIGHT HOUSE FOR YOU!
